Adult Guitar Students recording 'Hotel California'

Picture
Saturday 11 February 2012. Snow on the ground, the temperature that day recorded as -15C on the car thermometer.

The proud players of 8 Electric guitars, 4 Acoustics, 2 bass guitars, 4 brass players gathered together at Sham Studios in Somersham to record an impromptu version of Hotel California by The Eagles.  The lengthy guitar solos being divided between willing participants.

All of these players were my students, and for the vast majority this would be the first time they had played with anyone else but me, let alone in such a vast ensemble.  The brass players, also students on mine either on trumpet or piano, bolstered the sound out nicely.  Drums were courtesy of an ex-pupil now professional performer Nick Waldock.

To achieve such a recording, going from nowhere at 10.00am to a 'take' with vocals (all done by  the guitar students) by 4.00pm is nothing short of amazing.

The following shots show the enjoyment of the day, which all who took part thought to be a great success
