Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website. Please use the page links on the left to navigate the site.

Situated in the lovely village of Bury, near Ramsey in Cambridgeshire, I offer the highest quality, fully qualified and professional music tuition. My teaching practice caters for the piano, contemporary guitar and trumpet.

Tuition is on a one to one basis only, and all ages from children of upper junior school age are catered for. I teach many adults, most from the starting point of absolute beginner. I have a good rapport with children and in particular have good communication with teenage students. My exam result history is excellent at all grades.

Teaching is at my fully equipped home using professional instruments consisting of a new Yamaha Grand Piano, and a large selection of professional quality guitars (Gibson, Fender, Ibanez, Tanglewood, Yamaha and Taylor)for students to experience through high quality Fender amplification. Please note that these instruments are for student use at the studio only.

All styles are taught from classical to contemporary, (please see the 'what I teach' page) and each student is treated as an individual. Many grade 8 and higher diploma students have been taught by me, and several students have gone on to universities and colleges to study music, and some enjoy professional careers.

As an actively working musician, I teach experience based performance in a comfortable environment. My style is friendly, non-critical and encouraging.

I particularly encourage adult beginners to fulfill their life ambition to play a musical instrument.

If you are looking for lessons for a child, then I am very experienced and proven to be child friendly. Perhaps your child is learning through a school scheme at present. Do you frequently hear that they are having yet another new teacher, or that the teacher did not turn up? These school based schemes rarely work well and you have to look at results to see that. Four pupils sharing a 20 minute lesson means 5 minutes tuition each at best. What appears to be cheaper in the long run is in fact dearer, as frequent (often weekly) changes of teacher mean poor consistency, lack of continuity and repeated work. As an independent teacher I rarely take time off, (lessons continue during school holidays by popular demand) and I never substitute a teacher in place of myself. What you see is always what you get!

I maintain a base in excess of 60 registered students, and regularly teach on average 50 students per week, many of whom have been attending for many years now. Lessons may be weekly, fortnightly or monthly to suit the individual level and budget.

Several students think it worthwhile to travel great distances for their lessons as they cannot find exactly what they are looking for closer to home.

Adult students having an hour session or longer can also enjoy fresh ground coffee or tea.

So if you are looking for top quality fully qualified professional tuition then please read the following pages for more detailed information on the options available, or please phone me on 01487 813851 to discuss your requirements.

THE IMPORTANT STUFF:

CRIMINAL RECORDS BUREAU CHECK
I have been checked and cleared by Cambridgeshire County Council and am presently having that clearance updated by Osborne Cawkwell Educational Consultants on behalf of The Registry of Guitar Teachers. I have no convictions, spent or current whatsoever (no - not even a parking ticket!)

FEES
My fees are from £30 per hour, (pro rata for Half hour or 2 hours.) Lessons are invoiced monthly in advance. ALL MAJOR CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS ARE ACCEPTED (Except Diners Club - Amex accepted + 5%). Alternatively a Budget Payment scheme is available for long term students. With this option the amount of lessons expected over a year is calculated and a regular monthly payment of 12 equal installments is made by standing order.
